More ways with Linux 

After more than a fortnight of frustration trying to get my wireless card working with a Linux driver, I now find that a good deal of cards will work with a Windows driver and a copy of ndiswrapper*. Arrrgggh!!, wish someone would have pointed out that minor detail to me. OK... back to the drawing board.

*Ndiswrapper is to Windows drivers what Wine is to Windows programs.
